Max Murray

Discussion on the Rangers board about Max. Remember him playing for Thirds and shoulder -charging goalie into the net - goal stood! No way nowadays!

Also remember him after training at Cathkin hitting 9 irons from one end of pitch to the other -aparently he was fine golfer.

Remember his nickname at Ibrox was "Ruby"after Ruby Murray a female singer at that time .

Yeah Max was a major signing when the '63 team was created but does anyone know what happened to him after leaving Thirds?

Hi,

Max  Murray, played with Thirds during season 1964/65 - the Club's worst season on record.

From 34 games played  a total of seven points were taken. ( 3 Wins  &  a draw).

This led to relegation to the second divison for the remainder of their  time in Scottish football.

The following eleven lined up in that seaon's opening game -

MITCHELL, McGILLIVRAY, DAVIS, LITTLE, McCORMACK, GEDDES. TODD, JACKSON, MURRAY, BLACK & BRADY.

On 7th October, 1965, Thirds  are reported to have received a cheque in the sum of £ 1,600, from Clyde, for the transfer of  Max Murray.   Source- The Board of Trade Investigation Report, 1967.

I have no knowledge of  Murray's career following  his move from Cathkin to Shawfield in October, 1965.
