I was a big Thirds fan back in the late fifties and early sixties and remember well the famous team that came third inthe first division around 1961.Even before Hilley,Harley and Gray there were some great players.I recall seeing Johnny Allen,? Roy,Max Murray Billy Lewis and others.
Recently I was in one of the local Toronto Celtic clubs to watch Belarus v.Scotland (the Rangers club were not carrying it !) and noticed a picture of Bobby Craig after he had signed for the Tims.I mentioned this to the barman who pointed out a small guy who turned out to be the man himself.Turns out that he had immigrated to Canada many years ago (along with quite a few others-Bill Brown,Graham Leggat,etc.) We had a great chat about the old days.Wee Bobby seemed to blame mainly Hiddleston and big George Young for Third's downfall ! Being more of a bluenose nowadays I did'nt entirely agree about big Geordie.Anyway Bobby was looking great and seemed to be enjoying life and had only good things to say about the Thirds.
