Took my wife and youngest son in to the ground for the 1st time on Sat....although we are Thistle fans I have become more and more obsessed with Thirds and how the hell they were allowed to go to the wall. I have no recollection of seeing Thirds although I mustve at Firhill in the late 50's and 60's. Anyway...I took the camcorder in and filmed the ground....I just fell in love with it. It was everything I expected it to be but even BIGGER. Very like Firhill as was and I suppose like a lot of West of Scotland Grounds..with the large area of grass behind the goal to the terracing. The terracing is still in great shape and although it was a winter's day and the trees were bare...I think the presence of the trees at the ground- especially in Spring or Summer adds something so special and magical to the whole place. It was very moving for me and it got me to wanting to write a book...make a film, both...(ok...I'm rambling slightly)....then the film grosses 20 million at the box office and I split it 50 50 between Thistle and Thirds. By the way...my wife was fascinated too as she had never known the place existed (not being a footie fan till she met me).
I just feel so stupid/guilty/sorry whatever the word is...at not having been before this.
Having supported my beloved Partick Thistle all my life and becoming interested in the HiHi initially because my Great Grandad played for them, then being fascinated by their history and determined to help in any way possible with a resurrection attempt I echo your sentiments exactly.
Hope 2008 is a fantastic year for all fans, players and everyone involved or previously involved with both Partick Thistle and Third Lanark
