Very pleased to see the 'return to fashion' of the old 60s V neck jersey as currently sported by the Welsh national side and Manchester United both you will have noticed play in RED
Seeing MU on tv playing in the red v neck naturally had me casting my mind back to those halcyon days at Cathkin watching the mighty Hi Hi (you'll note the comparison ) strutting their stuff in that glorious scarlet v neck top. It was such a simple uncluttered design and with the matching white socks with the two red bands just gave it the balance a good strip needs.
I never saw a Thirds team playing in the red with a white collar although they did have a neat 2nd strip which was white with a red collar (Pollok have an away kit which is white with a white collar) they wore in a Sectional League Cup match against Hamilton Accies (5-1 ).Come to think of it i can't recall seeing them wear it again!!
Anyway point being there are some horrendous kits out there and it's nice to see the return to a more traditional design (ok Bert the collar was fine too ).
I know what you mean mate, when i bought my Replica Thirds top a few years ago, a lot of people were saying how coll it was. Though from a distance a few didnt recognise the name ont he ****s and thought it was a Liverpool top. But agree with you ots a fantastic shirt.
Unfortunately I dont think they do any replicas on the Thirds away shirt which is really smart too.
Does anyone have any coloured photos of the golden type strip that Thirds won in the 1959 League cup final, from what I have heard was very similar to Wolverhamptons colours. Bet it looked a cracker

Thirds did have a white 'away' style top but the only time i saw them wear it was in a League Cup sectional tie against Hamilton Accies at Cathkin (won 5-1 ) although they did naturally wear it when necessary in games with conflicting tops. The top had a red collar and not a v neck as depicted in the photo. The top looks good but i can't swear they actually had one like that. Anyone remember it?
Should have checked before but yes it did exist. In Bob's book there is a team photo 1960/61 and action pics of it being worn in 1957. As with the v neck red there is no club badge. Wonder what happened to it and why they reverted to the collar later in the 60s.
