I'm from Australia but my grandfather and father were both huge Thirds fans before the demise of the club. Both migrated down here prior to the events of the late 60's but have never stopped loving the Hi Hi. I'm a Hibs fan, but as a major part of my heritage lies with Third Lanark this website has impressed me a great deal.
Just wondering if the new Thirds were still going strong? Haven't heard a great deal about them since the new season. When I told my old man about a new Thirds team starting up, the look on his face was priceless
Not quite sure if they are still 'alive and well' as not much seems to be happening on their website. There was talk of then trying to go 'junior' which would be good but that is quite a jump from their current amateur status. I saw them once at Cathkin last season and very enjoyable it was too but so far this season zilch.
PTL is usually pretty aware of what's going on with the new Hi Hi...any news bud??
The new Thirds are not playing this year which is shame. The reasons were that they were to be moved from the under 19 league to the under 21 but there was confusion about which leage they should be in, by Under 21 League.
The good news is that they are going to be back in two years time. At that time they intend to go straight into the main amateur leagues so it wont be under 19 level or under 21 level but the main league where they can hoepfully grow steadily from strength to strength and perhaps turn Junior in a few years time. So the plus side is that they will definitely be back just unfotunate we will have to wait a couple of years.
