Can any contributor recall what was the chain of events that led to the inside forward trio of the magic 60 -61 season starting the following season sitting in the stands on 'strike' ??
Dave Hilley , Alec Harley and Matt Gray
They had knocked in a bag of goals the previous season......did anyone of them represent Scotland at any level ?
Don't know the exact build up to the dispute but i guess you can assume it was all down to dosh...isn't it always
I believe none of the trio received a full Scottish Cap but Hilley was 'capped' by the Scottish League.Why none of the trio were not given more (or some) honours is probably down to the bias towards 'you know who' and the Anglos...they would have strolled into todays Scotland Team...in fact they should have strolled into the Scotland team then too!!

Was this not about the time Hiddelston had started at the club? If he was palnning to run the club down, would he not start by trying to get rid of the best players?
The transfer fees they got for these guys would have in part gone to finance the new stand which although the seating area and roof etc was in place there was still a substantial amount of building work behind it unfinished.I believe this would have included new dressing rooms and the like. Hiddleston would have been around at this time hatching his plans.
