J Campbell

Maybe not as well known as some of the others, but John also known as Jackie Campbell was my great grandfather played for Thirds during the period 1901-1904 and is one of the reasons why, despite sadly them folding before I was born, that I have a great affection for this team and welcome any attempts to get them resurrected such as with the new amateur team set up.

I think J Campbell played in the Thirds League winning team of around 1904.  He also played for Celtic, Aston Villa, Kilmarnock and Scotland.  I have a very rare Scotland cap int he house.  Am most proud of the fact though he played for Third Lanark.  Would have also been great if he played for Partick Thistle but suppose cant get everything my own way.

John Campbell spent 2 seasons at Cathkin Park, and won the title with them as you say in 1903/04 (21 games, 6 goals). 1904/05 (19 games, 6 goals). He had 2 great seasons with Aston Villa between 2 spells with Celtic. Interestingly, John Campbell was born in 1872, the year 3rd Lanark Rifle Volunteers were formed.
