Obviously not been around at that time, I do not know how much publicity was given about the clubs demise, though I would guess quite a lot, but did Celtic winning the cup in the same year unfairly overshadow what was happening at Cathkin?

In my opinilon, it definitely if not unsurprisingly,  affected the impact of Thirds' closure, but it had a dramatic effect on the Hi Hi fans.   There was a great feeling of disbelief and non acceptance of the inevitable at the time.

Many fans come August 1968, to the high roads to several Glasgow grounds, although I think the bulk made their  way to watch Pollok Juniors

I for one wish that Thirds had the vehicle of 'administration' instead of  instant liquidation, as this tool is now the much preferred option for several clubs in England & Scotland - and some how it is working in favour of their survival.

I still hear so many Celtic fans going on now about what a great year 1967 was because of their victory in the European Cup.  It was a great year for that club, but were they so insensitive not to realise that that same year saw Scottish Football lose one of its oldest and much respected teams.

67 was a big year for both the old firm teams and i suppose the national side too (the famous Baxter 3-2 win) and unfortunately Thirds slipped quietly out the back door. The average gate was down to the 250 mark (i don't think any papers gave crowds less than this!!) so the hard core element was fading fast. I think as already stated (by Bert) that there didn't seem to be any means of 'appeal' ie administration and so there was no way back for them. Those were different days and everyone basically was only concerned with their own club and i guess even today Clydebank went the same way, a side with perhaps not the same senior tradition (hopefully some bankie will come on and say otherwise) as Thirds, but still a sorry case all the same and they didn't get much help form those round about.
