Third Lanark Athletic Football Club Fundraising Evening at The Couper Institute, Cathcart, Glasgow. Film Show, Guest Speaker and Buffet for only £10. Saturday 31st of May 2008 7.30 p.m. to Midnight (Licensed Bar open during these hours only)
Phone Tony Coyle on 07908 471006 to book your tickets. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and the venue is limited to a 200 capacity.
The club will be extending invites to some of the old Hi-Hi players along and Mike Jackson shall be our guest speaker. There will also be footage of both the old Third Lanark team pre-1967 and also film of the new Third Lanark team.
Why not come along and support the new Hi-Hi as all profit realised on the evening will go directly to the club funds.
Be sure to book early and avoid any disappointment as our last fundraiser was a complete sell-out and, in truth, we could have sold it out several times over. We do have a slightly larger venue this time but we nevertheless do anticipate a high demand for tickets.
Finally for all Thirds fans around the world who might not be able to make it there are still ways you can contribute to getting the Thirds firmly back on the Scottish Football map. Please do get in touch.
Thanks for details re Fundraiser Evening. It sounds good, and another chance to perhaps cheer on a Thirds' goal or two,
I remember Mike jackson well, in the Colours. In 1963 he signed for Thirds from St. Johnstone. & moved on to an Eire Club, Drumcondra in 1965. During his Hi Hi stint, he made 43 appearances and scored 8 goals. A talented, inside forward, with clever, close ball control skills. who quickly became very popular with the fans.
As a mere 40 year old youngster I was born a year after the sad demise of the 3rds although I am fully committed to the present incarnation as a player and the proud history of the Hi-His past. Pulling on the keepers jersey on a Saturday afternoon at Cathkin evokes memories of Brownlie, Simpson and all the other great 3rds keepers who donned the jersey.
I've put details of the event online here amongst all like minded people and certainly hope that it'll be a good night out.
I do know that the management of the new Hi Hi team (Peter, Wullie, Matt and Pat) are certainly pushing the boat out piecing it all together and getting the night organised and I thought I'd nip in and get it advertised here.
I'm looking forward to hearing some great old stories on the night (although my favourite from your book has to be the one about the new match balls getting punted over the stand straight from kick off to keep them in good nick ... terrifically sad yet pure comical at the same time)
